We are pleased to present this special bulletin from Seconds Before HQ. Our new album is called Gravity Well, and you can boggle at the album cover and sample a small snippet of instrumental music from the title track in this video teaser. Jeremy Jessen (of Align/AllTheWayRider) stopped by our space this week to drop in some fine guest vocals on one of the tracks. Much fun was had by all. More fun will be had by all when the album arrives online soonish, early 2012.
We are pleased to announce that the recordings for our next album are set to commence this month. As we’ve mentioned before, we’re taking a different approach this time and will be tracking everything at our own studio. The good news is that we’ll probably feel free to take more risks and try different things. The downside of course is that we’ll probably be working on it for a longer period of time. We’ve been in pre-production mode for a few months now and are really excited about this latest batch of songs.
Mike will be playing drums for Disembodied for their final two shows (Krazy Fest in Louisville, KY on May 21 and Minneapolis on July 16). The Minneapolis show also features the return of our old-school HC friends in Harvest. Minneapolis is sold out, but it sounds like Krazy Fest tickets are still available, so get on that if you want to see one of the heaviest bands ever rip a hole right through the fabric of reality one last time.

Greetings and happy almost-2011 to ye. While news bulletins from Seconds Before HQ have been scarce of late, that doesn’t mean we haven’t been up to certain nefarious projects. Operation Bandcamp has been initiated - we’ve posted our entire discography, demos and all, at secondsbefore.bandcamp.com. Pricing ranges from $5 for our two full-length albums to name your own price (including free) for EPs and demos. Best of all, you can stream every song in full, gratis. Our grizzled military engineering staff has confirmed that bandcamp streams work on many varieties of smartphones, so you can basically rock our whole shebang on the go.
We’ve been hinting at this for a while, and for any of you who caught one of our two shows in 2010, you know we’ve been trying out some new jams. We’re feeling like we are getting to the point where we’ve got our recording capabilities up to maximum killing capacity, and we’re sitting on a batch of new songs we are really excited about. The odds of new Seconds Before music showing up on the aforementioned bandcamp page in the not-so-distant future are reasonable to awesome. For now, though, we’re going to kick back with our families for the rest of the year for some dubiously-earned r and r. Further communiques shall follow in 2011! Cheers!

Greetings from Seconds Before HQ. We’re still alive, just hibernating a bit this winter. We shall emerge soon with some new music to entertain/torment you. In the meantime, a few of us will be joining members of the extended Blue Worm Records family this Thursday at Grumpy’s Northeast for a listening party for the newest members of the BWR roster, Bastard Saint. Word on the streets is that most or all of the bands will have various freebees to give away. We’ll have a stack of CDs to hand out, so if you haven’t yet gotten your hands Change Is The Only Constant, and live anywhere close to NE Minneapolis, well, consider the deal sweetened. Come on down and hang out with a bunch of rock dudes and dudettes.
Here’s the full press release and details on the event.
Cheers!!!

We got a couple of fine events coming up to celebrate the release of Bastard Saint’s debut BWR LP release, “Homewrecker.”
We’ll have the BWR Roster on shuffle throughout the evening but will spin “Homewrecker” in its entirety at 7:30PM and again at 9:00PM. Be sure to come down to check it out, and while you are there you can grab some free releases from the BWR Roster.
Friday March 5th, 2010 at Spicoli’s in Waterloo, IA will feature performances from Bastard Saint and Casanatra with a couple of local openers to round it out. Doors @ 9PM, Cover $6, 21+.
We’ll have LPs for sale at both shows which include a free digital version with bonus tracks!
We’re happy to welcome Vivian Elizabeth Larson into the extended Seconds Before family, born August 23 2009. Congratulations to Brian and Liz! As Brian gets himself acclimated to fatherhood we’ll be taking a break from live performance for a couple months, but we hope to be back at it before too long.
In other news, Mike performed last night in Ieper, Belgium with 108, co-headlining with Darkest Hour at Ieperfest 2009. Our local Minneapolis friends Disembodied are playing tonight’s lineup. Mike toured with 108 in Europe and USA in the 90s and got the call about playing this show as 108’s current drummer was unavailable for this date. We’re definitely hoping for video of this show - stay tuned here, if we get our hands on anything, we’ll be sure to post.
We’ve retrieved video evidence of Seconds Before in a live performance. Here’s “Of Little Faith” from the new album from the Blue Worm Records 10 Year Anniversary Show last October at the Triple Rock. The entire set is up online (along with all the other bands who performed) at http://www.youtube.com/user/bluewormrecords .
Look, we try not to gripe too much about our weather here. We wear our resilience to subzero temps as a badge of honor in these icy climes. But there comes a time (right around the six-month mark of winter weather) when our patience wears a little thin, the beards start to grow a little shaggy, and we begin to long for a brief change of scenery. But reviews like this in the latest issue of Rift warm our icy hearts. Thanks Rift! There’s a fine review of “Death Ride” by fellow BWR comrades Casanatra in this month’s issue as well. Thanks also to everyone who came out to Club Underground last Saturday, as well as Days Of Rae, Midget Pony, and Orange Blank for making it a great show.
